Master’s Level Training Counsellors and New Graduates

If you wish to receive services from a member of our counselling team who is in the process of completing their Master’s degree, or who is a new graduate awaiting registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, we recommend contacting your insurance provider and asking the following question(s):

For coverage under the supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist:

"If a Registered Psychotherapist, who shares legal and ethical responsibility for my care, is supervising services provided by someone who is in the process of fulfilling the requirements to become registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, are these services covered by my plan?"

For coverage under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist:

“If a Registered Psychologist, who is legally and ethically responsible for my care, is providing services through the supervision of someone who is not a psychologist as permitted by the College of Psychologists of Ontario, are these services covered by my plan?”
