My Style & Approach

As a therapist, it is not my place to pass judgment but rather support clients on their journey to understanding how deeply their experiences have impacted their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. This path is not easy nor linear, but it is best traversed with the guidance of an unbiased and empathetic professional by one’s side in a safe therapeutic space. I value empowering and motivating others to meet their goals as I demonstrate the acceptance, genuineness, congruent and unconditional positive regard that I believe they are capable of showing themselves.

Utilizing the framework that best applies to clients I also believe that clients are not their issues/challenges, but rather their struggles are prominent aspects of the mosaic of their life. A client's current identity, history, and diverse background are valuable aspects of the therapeutic relationship. These aspects will be treated with the utmost respect and understanding as we begin the therapeutic process, collaboratively set goals, and navigate the healing and learning process together.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology and graduated with honours. My undergraduate honours thesis had been on assessing the impact of political rhetoric on university students’ perceived wellbeing.

I have worked with youths and adults, volunteering as a Crisis Responder for the Crisis Text Line powered by the Kids Help Phone. For over two years I had supported and engaged in conversations with individuals who needed someone to connect with and talk to in a moment of crisis. As well as, I would help individuals access emergency services and other services for less acute situations and challenges. I have past Mental Health First Aid training, had extensive training to become a Crisis Responder, and frequently attend various workshops on trauma, grief and loss, and elevating resistance and agency.

Personal interests

I love music, comedy and animated movies, art, and baking. I am one of four siblings and the daughter of Jamaican immigrants. Listening to calming music and having a cup of tea is my favourite way to de-stress. I am also an avid collector of mugs and as my collection is currently at seven, I anticipate getting more.

I love anything to do with autumn, whether that be the changing of the leaves or the cool weather. Lastly, if I have the pleasure of seeing you over a video session, you will see that my office walls are bright pink!
