My Style & Approach
There are many factors that influence and shape the people we are today and the people we are becoming. As such, I view my clients through a holistic lens and understand that there are many variables (culture, social, biological and cognitive) that impact their overall health and wellbeing. My approach to therapy is multidimensional; I know that no one therapeutic approach will fit for everyone - you deserve to work with a therapist who honours and appreciates your unique needs and journey.
In the therapy room, my clients are the experts of their lives, presenting problems, feelings, and thoughts. As your therapist, I view my role as decentered and influential; co-creating your therapeutic journey with you, and providing you with the support you need to achieve and maintain your therapeutic goals using various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It takes strength and courage to step into the therapeutic room and share your vulnerable concerns. Therefore, my primary goal is to provide you with a safe, non-judgemental space and empathic ear as you share your story.
Education, Training, & Professional Development
I have completed my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I have also completed my B.A. (Hons.) in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Criminology at Ontario Tech University followed by a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Humber College.
Additionally, throughout my educational career, I have worked in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer. This opportunity has provided me with valuable insight and experience in understanding the ways in which both the physical and mental aspects of health can impact one’s overall wellbeing. As a personal trainer, putting into practice my knowledge of fitness as well as mental health counselling allows me to work collaboratively with my clients to identify their goals, strengths, and areas of growth in a way that considers the whole person and meets clients where they are at.
Personal interests
I grew up playing various types of sports and continue to participate in recreational sport activities including soccer, biking, running, and powerlifting. I am always looking for that physical challenge to overcome! It is why I became a personal trainer, and it was through physical activity that I learned the importance of my mental health and the connection of physical and mental health exercises. I also enjoy being outdoors - nothing feels better than getting in a hike out of the city and breathing in some fresh air in Mother Nature, surrounded by water and trees. When I am not moving my body, I am often curled up in my bed reading the next best series I can find from fantasy, murder mystery, or true crime, or watching horror movies even when it’s not Halloween season.
