My Style & Approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in CARE: Compassion, Acceptance, Respect, and Empathy. When you enter the therapy space, you will be warmly welcomed and cared for, attentively listened to without judgment, fully respected for who you are, and calmly supported with kindness, patience, and understanding. As we work together, my aim is for you to feel safe, heard, and valued.
Practicing from a person-centred approach, my priority in therapy is supporting you. Acknowledging that you know yourself best, I will collaborate with you on the journey of connecting with your inner self and strengths and developing knowledge and skills to reach your goals. Drawing on culturally informed and family-systems approaches, my approach also involves understanding who you are in your contexts and relationships, taking time to explore what your culture and relationships mean to you, and any support you may need within them is integral to providing you with individualized, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed care.
It would be my privilege to meet you, hear your story, and walk with you on your therapy journey as you connect with who you are and take steps toward becoming who you want to be.
Education, Training, & Professional Development
I am currently a student at Tyndale University in the Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling program. Studying at Tyndale, the focus of my training has been on supporting clients from family-systems theory and attachment theory perspectives. My therapeutic approach is informed by these modalities, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am dedicated to evidence-based and client-centred practice, tailoring my use of techniques and approaches to align with best practices and my client’s unique experiences.
Alongside practicing psychotherapy, I am a Certified Music Therapist (MTA), having completed a Bachelor of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Arts in Music and Health Sciences at the University of Toronto. Drawing on this background, I integrate my creativity, adaptability, and strength-building skills as a music therapist into my practice as a psychotherapist. In addition to my education, my experiences working in a variety of settings, including hospitals, older adult centers, and women’s shelters, have given me experience supporting clients from a diversity of ages and backgrounds and instilled in me the value of viewing health holistically and meeting people where they are at.
Personal interests
My three greatest passions are spending time with people, learning, and being creative. I love being with family and friends, catching up over a London Fog, playing board games, or going for a long walk in the woods. On my own time, you will often find me deep into a book on health or self-improvement, reading about new research and current events, or challenging myself to learn a new yoga pose. I also enjoy leaning into my creative side by playing piano or guitar, painting, or trying a new recipe.
