My Style & Approach

Life can be tough and it takes tremendous courage to reach out for support. I honour that courage by providing a space where my clients feel safe, cared for, understood, and not judged. This includes clients who identify with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, who are Indigenous, or who have diverse cultural identities.

My approach is to center the client as the expert on themselves and what they need to heal. This means that I am flexible and adapt to each client’s distinct needs. My primary goal is to join clients in exploring who they are, who they are not, and what is contributing to their distress so that they may heal, grow, and connect to others in healthy and meaningful ways.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

My passion for understanding human behaviour led me to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a Speciality in Mental Health Studies from the University of Toronto. I then went on to become a supportive counsellor working with women and children fleeing domestic violence. Within this role, I gained a deep understanding of gender-based violence and its effects on children, youth, parents, and families. I also engaged in training on positive parenting techniques and play therapy. Now I am a graduate student at Yorkville University in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program where I continue to learn, grow, and build my competencies to support children, youth, adults, and families with diverse experiences, challenges, and needs.

Personal interests

Aside from my studies and work as a therapist, I spend most of my time with my partner, two young children, and our rescue dog Lexie. In my personal time, I am an avid reader and a crossword enthusiast, and I love to go camping with my family every chance I get! My favourite places to camp are Cyprus Lake Campground in Tobermory and Bon Echo Provincial Park in Cloyne.
