Couple/Partner Therapy
In couple/partner therapy, your relationship is at the centre of the process. As such, therapy for couples and intimate partners requires more than examining what is good for each individual partner; it requires asking and exploring, “what’s good for the relationship?” Our therapists work with couples and partners in all types of intimate partnerships to explore this question and much more.
There are many reasons that people choose to meet with our couple/partner therapists, including:
Longing for more closeness and connection in their relationship
Struggling to balance each partner’s needs for both closeness and space
Sexual dissatisfaction and intimacy concerns
Feeling stuck in a painful pattern with each other that leads to feelings like frustration, loneliness, and despair
Difficulties with feeling heard and understood by each other
Feelings of jealousy, fear, and anxiety around other relationships
Experiencing a “rut” and longing for more joy, fun, and lightheartedness in your relationship
Navigating work-life balance together and division of labour issues
Ruptures to important bonds, betrayal, and difficulties with forgiveness
Relationship transitions, including cohabitation, marriage, separation/divorce, introducing new partners/exploring non-monogamy, etc.
And so much more. Relationship challenges can be some of the most difficult that we experience because they activate our deepest vulnerabilities. For this reason, getting support from someone who is trained in helping couples and partners can be really helpful. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
