My Style & Approach

My approach is based on providing a warm, compassionate, nonjudgemental space to listen to your concerns and collaborate with you as you navigate life and learn about yourself. I work from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, client-centred perspective with the intention to work alongside you towards your vision for change. I bring an integrative approach to therapy with foundations in humanistic and family systems theoretical frameworks. My style of therapy builds on increasing your self-awareness to live authentically with self-compassion highlighting where you place meaning in life. I value acknowledging the steps we all take toward growth in our personal journeys as we build a trusting relationship with ourselves.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I am currently completing my placement as a Master of Arts student in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Previously, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and earned a certificate in Rehabilitation Services from Seneca College. I have completed extensive training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Along with formal education, some of my most valuable learning has come from on-the-job experiences. Over the past 17 years, I have worked as an addiction counsellor in withdrawal management, provided case management and community support, facilitated mindfulness groups and as a coordinator of a transitional-aged youth program. I am ready to bring my training and experience to New Roots and excited to join the team.

Personal interests

I am a curious person, and a lifelong learner and see value in all types of knowledge and experiences. I enjoy travelling to broaden my lens and was able to live in Australia for a year which provided many opportunities for self-discovery. I have two dogs and enjoy being in nature with them, going on hikes and being close to water. I practice yoga, and mindfulness and enjoy swimming to keep me grounded.
